A Thoughtful Design for an Active Family
Creating a home that meets the unique needs of an active family while exuding sophistication requires an innovative approach. For this project, we balanced the family’s practical requirements with their desire for a refined space perfect for entertaining. Every design choice was made with equal emphasis on durability, functionality, and style.
The dining room was designed with durability and ease of maintenance in mind.
Without rugs or drapery, the space maintained an air of understated elegance while allowing for quick cleanup. A wide dining table was chosen to reduce access to the chandelier, and the seating upholstery featured stain-resistant, contract-grade vinyl. This material, resembling fine woven fabric, combined practicality with elegance, as it could be effortlessly wiped clean with a damp cloth.
In the living room, drapery was strategically installed behind heavy metal consoles to prevent interference.
Furniture was selected and arranged to prevent tipping, ensuring safety without compromising aesthetics. Surfaces were chosen for their ability to withstand heavy use while maintaining a polished, elegant appearance.
To ensure the highest standards of cleanability, all seating upholstery underwent rigorous testing. Substances like red wine, mustard, and Flaming Hot Cheeto dust—one of the family’s go-to snacks—were used during a multi-day test to guarantee exceptional durability. Even the artwork was selected for its resilience, allowing it to be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth.

By addressing specific family needs while preserving an inviting aesthetic of timeless elegance, we created a home that is as resilient as it is beautiful.
